The Red Sox hosted the Guardians on Monday at Fenway Park for a matinee matchup on Labor Day. It was an entertaining game from the get-go, as Boston and Cleveland combined for six runs in the first two innings. And in the sixth frame, Trevor Story hit one of the strangest home runs you'll ever see in an MLB game. Certainly at Fenway Park, anyway.

Story squared up on a 2-0 pitch and sent a long fly ball down the right field line. Guardians OF Jhonkensy Noel sprinted towards Pesky Pole on the right field wall to try to rob Story. Then things got weird.

Noel appeared to make the grab at the exact moment the ball hit the foul pole. His momentum carried him almost into the stands and his glove hit a fan, forcing the ball free to bounce along the wall. If that is difficult to envision, watch the video first and then try to read it again because that's the only way to really grasp the sequence.

In real time it was almost impossible to tell what happened, and the umpires ruled it a foul ball initially. But slow-motion replay apparently revealed that the ball hit the pole clearly enough for the ruling to be changed and Story was awarded the home run.

A very odd series of events, and one that is almost physically impossible at a major league ballpark other than Fenway. Each day really does bring something we've never seen before.

Real Madrid superstar Vinicius Jr has reportedly told the club he currently has no plans to renew his contract at the Santiago Bernabeu due to a difficult relationship with manager Xabi Alonso. The Brazilian is said to be one of five players at Real Madrid who are not happy with the new manager's methods after he replaced Carlo Ancelotti at the helm in the summer.

Vinicius is out of contract in 2027 and is yet to reach an agreement with the club to extend his stay. According to , he has informed Los Blancos he will not renew his current deal "while his relationship with head coach Alonso remains so strained". The disconnect between the two made the headlines during Madrid's Clasico win over Barcelona earlier this season. Vinicius was seen ranting after being taken off by Alonso in the second half of the match. He subsequently issued a public apology for his behaviour but raised more eyebrows by neglecting to mention his manager in his statement.

Alonso sought to play down the controversy with Vinicius after the game. He told reporters: "On Wednesday we had a meeting with all the players and Vinicius was very good, impeccable. He spoke from the heart, with sincerity, and for me the matter is settled.

"For me, it [Vinicius' apology] was a very valuable, very positive statement, in which Vinicius showed honesty. For me, what matters is what he said to his team-mates, the club, the fans. For me, the matter is closed.”

Real Madrid opted not to sanction Vinicius for his outburst, with Alonso confirming: "it's settled, there will be no reprisals."

Vinicius is not the only player unhappy with Alonso, according to . Jude Bellingham, Fede Valverde, Endrick and Rodrygo are also named as key stars who do not possess a great relationship with the coach. After a summer of speculation about a summer exit, Rodrygo has started only three La Liga games for Madrid this season, while Endrick looks set to head out on loan to Lyon. Meanwhile, Valverde has been forced to speak out amid allegations he refused to play in a defensive role for Alonso.

Real have suffered some poor results this season which have put Alonso's future at the club under scrutiny already. The loss to Liverpool in the Champions League and subsequent 0-0 draw at Vallecas against Rayo have not impressed fans who are also not enjoying the team's style of play. Madrid then followed those two results with a 2-2 draw against Elche last time out, needing a late equaliser from Bellingham to snatch a point

Alonso explains Vini Jr benching

Alonso spoke to the press after seeing his team drop points again at Elche. He was quizzed on his decision to start Vinicius on the bench once again and insisted the Brazilian understood his decision to leave him out of the starting XI.

"No, we had discussed it. We talk about it often. He understands; he knew the role he could play. We've done it before, like in Getafe. Today we're not happy, but everyone is eager to get back on track," he told reporters. 

Alonso also insisted his relationship with the players is growing, adding: "We haven't fallen apart. We're still competing; the context of each match is different. The result is what matters, and we're aware of that and self-critical. The spirit is good; we have to respond to adversity. This is Real Madrid. We live with criticism; we want to improve.

"The connection is improving; we have more time and interact more, we know each other better. We're all in the same boat, we celebrate victories. We suffer if we don't win. The connection is good. We need to turn this situation around, starting with Athens."

Chelsea have built a squad full of brilliant players over the last few years, with the injured Cole Palmer being the jewel in their crown.

Moreover, as the Spanish side have been deliberating on the matter, the report claims that the Blues have already been in contact with the player’s camp, and want to make him a key part of their attack next year.

It’s unclear how much Manchester United would charge the West Londoners, but given their desire to move him on, it could be in the region of his Transfermarkt valuation of €40m, or about £35m.

It could be a complicated deal to get over the line, but given Rashford’s ability and form, it’s one worth pursuing, especially as he could be another Palmer.

Why Rashford would be another Palmer

Now, while there certainly are some differences between the two players, such as their ages, there are still several reasons why Rashford could be another Palmer-type signing for Chelsea.

For example, and this is the most important of them all, while he has had a few down seasons since he broke onto the scene, the 28-year-old has also had more than a few in which he’s been practically unplayable.

In the 22/23 season, before the wheels well and truly fell off at Old Trafford, the Manchester-born monster racked up an utterly sensational tally of 30 goals and 12 assists in 56 games.

A couple of years before that, he scored 21 goals and provided 18 assists in 57 games, and his overall tally of 216 goal involvements in 426 games for the Red Devils is genuinely astounding.

Moreover, he is currently showing that he can reproduce such numbers in another league entirely: in 16 appearances for Barca, totalling 1134 minutes, he’s scored six goals and provided nine assists, which is an average of a goal involvement every 1.06 games, or every 70.87 minutes.

In other words, the dynamic attacker, whom content creator Neal Gardner dubbed one of “the best in the world”, is someone who could have a similar game-changing impact on Enzo Maresca’s side as Palmer has.

Furthermore, it would also be another instance of the West Londoners pouncing on an incredible English player no longer wanted by one of the Manchester clubs.

Finally, just like Pensioners’ talismanic number ten, the 68-capped international is almost certainly going to be heading to the World Cup with England in the summer and will likely play a key role for Thomas Tuchel.

Ultimately, while it might be a complicated transfer to get over the line, Chelsea should do what they can to sign Rashford in the summer, as he could be another Palmer.

On the field, Anshul Kamboj’s bowling had a similar feel: there was an unhurried, deliberate rhythm to it, as he returned to action far from the spotlight that had briefly found him in England.After a challenging Test debut in Manchester in July, when he toiled for 18 overs for a solitary wicket, this Duleep Trophy semi-final for North Zone (NZ) against South Zone (SZ) marked a quieter, more controlled step forward.”I’m just trying to get into rhythm, focus on the present, and push myself without thinking too far ahead,” Kamboj had told ESPNcricinfo after the first day’s play. The ACB withdrew its team from the tri-series after an alleged cross-border attack

After seeing the ease with which boundaries were being scored in the death overs by both India and South Africa in Visakhapatnam, where India next play Australia on Sunday, the hosts would love the comfort of a sixth bowler, especially some added experience in the pace attack that currently features Kranti Gaud and Amanjot Kaur, who have all of 21 ODIs between them.Their options on the bench could tempt them. As such, if the Wanderers are to stand any chance of avoiding the drop, they may need to make major improvements at both ends of the pitch in the upcoming transfer window, and they have now made an approach for a new centre-forward.

According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, in a report for Football Insider, Wolves are one of a number of clubs in the race for Real Madrid forward Garcia this January, although it remains to be seen whether they will be willing to sanction a departure.

The Spanish side are concerned about a lack of attacking depth, which means they may not be willing to let the 21-year-old leave, despite several English sides queuing up to get a deal done, with O’Rourke saying: “If Real Madrid are willing to loan him out, I’m sure it’s more than just Leeds will be interested in him. I believe Brighton, Villa and Wolves have all registered interest.

“A lot will depend on Real Madrid. If there’s any injuries to their forwards then it might mean there’s no chance that Garcia goes out and loan.”

Hailed as a “goal machine” in the media, the youngster clearly has a lot of potential, having starred for Madrid at the Club World Cup in the summer, bagging four goals and an assist in six outings out in the USA.

Wolves are in dire need of a fresh injection of quality in attack, having failed to score in four out of their last five Premier League games, with Jorgen Strand Larsen failing to impress, finding the back of the net just once in 10 top-flight outings.

As such, a move for Garcia would make sense, but it will be strange if the Real Madrid ace is willing to move to a club in huge danger of relegation, given that there is likely to be plenty of other options on the table.
