Celtic goalkeeper Conor Hazard has left Parkhead on a loan deal.

In a recent post on the Celtic website, the Bhoys confirmed that the 23-year-old shot-stopper has joined Finnish side HJK Helsinki on a year-long loan spell, with the youngster’s temporary stint at The Bolt Arena running until December 2022.

Speaking about the goalkeeper’s departure, Ange Postecoglou said: “We are sure this move will be good for Conor, it will be an important opportunity for game-time and I know he will embrace this next period. In HJK Helsinki we believe it will be a great environment for him.

“I know HJK and Celtic have enjoyed good co-operation before and I think the loan period will be very positive for everyone concerned. We all wish Conor the very best.”

Hazard may have played his last game for Celtic

Having made his Celtic debut in the impressive 3-2 Europa League victory over LOSC Lille last season, Hazard quickly wrote himself into the club’s folklore just ten days later, saving two penalties in the rearranged 2019/20 Scottish Cup final against Hearts – a victory that sealed the Hoops’ unprecedented quadruple treble.

However, despite his instant impact last term, the 23-year-old has since struggled to cement a place in Postecoglou’s first-team squad, as, aside from the cup final and the Lille victory, the ‘keeper has made just six senior appearances for the Bhoys – with none of these outings coming during the reign of the Greek-Australian manager.

Indeed, this would appear to suggest that the £360k-rated man may not have much of a future at Parkhead, an idea that would appear to be supported by Postecoglou’s calling up of the 18-year-old England youth international Tobi Oluwayemi to his first-team squad.

As such, with the player who Neil Lennon dubbed an “absolutely excellent” goalkeeper currently on a contract at Parkhead that expires in the summer of 2023, it would not appear to be an unrealistic prediction to make that the Northern Ireland international could well have already played his final game for Celtic.

O futebol brasileiro teve mais uma perda. Ex-ponta com passagens por clubes como Internacional, Atlético-MG e Vasco, Pedrinho Gaúcho não resistiu a complicações respiratórias devido a uma pneumonia e morreu na última quarta-feira em Porto Alegre, aos 65 anos. Seu corpo será velado nesta quinta-feira, entre as 18h e 23h, na capela do Sport Club Internacional.

Nascido em Lajeado (RS), Pedro Antônio Simeão deu seus primeiros passos no futebol com a camisa do Colorado em 1973. Com o passar do tempo, fez parte da geração histórica, ao se sagrar tetracampeão gaúcho e, também, campeão brasileiro no Inter em 1975 e 1976, ao lado de nomes como Manga, Falcão, Valdomiro e Caçapava. O ponta era uma das opções do técnico Rubens Minelli para o decorrer das partidas.

Depois de uma passagem pelo América-SP, desembarcou em outra equipe que entraria para a história: o Atlético-MG. Tendo como companheiros João Leite, Luizinho, Toninho Cerezo, Palhinha e Éder Aleixo, conquistaria um tricampeonato estadual. Além disto, chegaria à decisão do Campeonato Brasileiro de 1980, perdida para o Flamengo.

Depois de uma passagem pelo Coritiba, Pedrinho Gaúcho chegou ao Vasco e voltou a fazer história. No jogo decisivo do Campeonato Carioca, o ponta cobrou escanteio para a área e, no primeiro pau, Marquinho estufou a rede para garantir o triunfo por 1 a 0 sobre o Flamengo.

Pedrinho Gaúcho ainda tem passagem pelo Bangu e encerrou sua carreira no Avaí.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals’ batsman Ajinkya Rahane had praised his new captain, Shane Watson, for being “very calm”, just like his old boss, Rahul Dravid. Watson in turn has said having Dravid around, as team mentor, has helped him develop as a cricketer. “To have Rahul as a mentor is unbelievable,” Watson said. “My development is certainly continuing to evolve very quickly because of having him there. For me personally, I am extremely lucky to have him around.”

So far in the current January transfer window, Wolves have only managed to secure deals for Hayao Kawabe and Chiquinho.

With the end of the month in sight, it seems as though some details have emerged on one particular transfer deal that Wolves were touted to complete that will surely excite a lot of fans.

What’s the latest?

After reports emerged earlier in the season that Wolves were looking to make Hwang Hee-chan’s loan deal at Molineux from RB Leipzig permanent, Old Gold journalist Tim Spiers was asked on Twitter what the current situation is on the matter.

In response, Spiers said that the club were going to sign the attacker on a permanent basis this month but his hamstring injury brought it to a halt.

The journalist also claimed that Hwang’s “drop in form” just before the injury could have had a part to play in it as well.

He concluded: “Lage is a big fan so if he gets back fit and in form before the end of the season he’s a bargain at £12m.”

Fans buzzing

Since joining the Midlands club from Leipzig back in August, the 25-year-old has managed to score four goals in 14 Premier League appearances, highlighting the attacking talents he has and demonstrating why Lage admires him.

It also shows why Wolves fans would be buzzing to see him become a permanent part of the furniture at Molineux as he’s currently the club’s joint-top scorer in 2021/22.

If Hwang’s injury and recent form have put to bed any chance of Wolves making his loan deal permanent this month, his aim now will be to get fit and start scoring again if he wants any chance of the Midlands club attempting to sign him in the summer to keep him in England.

While that may be a tough ask for the 25-year-old at this moment in time, if Wolves end up selling Adama Traore to fellow Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, which has been heavily reported in recent days, this could give the loanee more chances of playing games and proving to Lage why he deserves to stay at the club for the foreseeable future.

Mumbai Indians slumped to their second defeat in as many matches against Royal Challengers Bangalore, who have now won two out of two. The defending champions struggled at the start, scratched around in the middle and crumbled at the death on a somewhat difficult surface seeing its first IPL match. For their opponents, it was the bowling again that set up the win, although their batsmen, minus the recovering Chris Gayle again, did not find it easy.Mumbai’s problems began at the top as Michael Hussey and Aditya Tare failed to make good after being dropped on 1. Mitchell Starc and Albie Morkel found swing and seam to go with some pace and bounce, and the Mumbai openers were tied down. Tare was beaten several times for pace, especially on the short ball.Even as Hussey departed, swinging Morkel to backward square leg, Varun Aaron’s speed and accurate back-of-a-length deliveries kept up the squeeze on Mumbai. Tare’s struggle ended when he connected a short ball only to top-edge it.Then came the decisive spell of the game. Young legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal tossed it up liberally, and lured Rohit Sharma into a half-hearted loft to long-off. Chahal stuck to his approach, and earned another big wicket of Kieron Pollard in his next over, the batsman trying to launch a six but only going as far as long-on, where Sachin Rana jumped to collect a sharp catch.Ambati Rayudu and Corey Anderson pushed Mumbai past 100 but they never looked in control as no Royal Challengers bowler provided them any release. Ashok Dinda went for just 14 in his four overs. Mumbai were to collapse from 101 for 4 to 115 for 9 in the last four overs, batsman after batsman slogging and holing out in the deep.Royal Challengers were to be reduced to 17 for 3 in the chase. Nic Maddinson could not keep out an inswinging Lasith Malinga yorker. Zaheer Khan then nipped out Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh in the space of three deliveries. AB de Villiers was the new batsman in. He had Parthiv Patel for company, but with only Albie Morkel, Sachin Rana and the bowlers to follow, Royal Challengers needed the pair in the middle to do the bulk of the job.Which was exactly what de Villiers and Parthiv did, putting on an unbeaten 99 run-partnership that brought up the win in the 18th over. They had their nervy moments, but hung around to steer their side home. Parthiv seemed to have thin-edged Malinga to the keeper with 41 needed off the last seven overs, but Mumbai did not even appeal. It might have made a difference, it may not have, but in the end, Mumbai just did not have enough runs to push Royal Challengers.

Sánchez viu o Santos “jogando estranho” contra o Galo e ressaltou desejar ver o time de Sampaoli atuando como foi contra o Corinthians, na partida de volta pela semifinal do Campeonato Paulista.

– Prefiro jogar como joguei contra o Corinthians, um dos meus jogos muito bons. Equipe concentrada, decidida, só importava a trave da frente, não de trás. Esse é o time que eu quero ver, é importante. Nos outros jogos não tivemos como reagir e virar. Ontem (quinta) foi jogo estranho, onde criamos situações e não concretizamos. Poderíamos falar de outra coisa se tivéssemos feito os gols. Não foi um bom jogo, fizemos bem ou não em alguns momentos, mas se não concretizar é pior e podemos ficar fora. Pecamos, fomos todos para o gol e esquecemos da nossa trave. Em uma eliminação, custa caro. Eles têm jogadores rápidos e experientes, aproveitaram isso – explicou.
