Some Wolves fans have been reacting negatively to the news that Willy Boly will miss the upcoming Premier League clash with Fulham.

It was another night to forget for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side on Monday, with West Ham winning 3-2 at Molineux.

Wolves were even 3-0 down at one point, and while a great comeback was almost pulled off, it was still a poor performance in general, most notably in defence.

They will be hoping to bounce back on Friday evening, with struggling Fulham hosting them at Craven Cottage, as Scott Parker’s men battle to avoid relegation.

Wolves have been dealt a big blow in the lead-up to the match, however, with The Athletic‘s Tim Spiers confirming on Twitter that Boly will miss out after testing positive for coronavirus.

It means the centre-back is having to self-isolate for 10 days, but he will presumably be available for the visit of Sheffield United on April 17th if he suffers no lasting effects.

Com a vitória neste sábado, o Flamengo chegou a sete pontos e assumiu a liderança do Grupo A da Taça Guanabara. Na próxima quarta-feira, às 20h30, o Rubro-Negro tem o clássico contra o Fluminense, no Maracanã.

Cast your mind back to last summer and you will quickly realise just how badly wrong Wolves got their recruitment.

They sold Diogo Jota and Matt Doherty, only to replace them with Fabio Silva for £35.6m and then Nelson Semedo.

Jota and Doherty contributed to 25% of Wolves’ goals last term while Silva and Semedo have since struggled to live up to expectation.

Silva is the club’s record signing but has netted just three times after arriving from Porto. As for his Portuguese counterpart in defence, he has been a liability at the back.

Fortunately, we are starting to see an improvement. Semedo won a mightily impressive ten tackles in Wolves’ late win over Fulham, a victory that was earned by Adama Traore’s goal from a Silva assist.

It would seem the striker is finally beginning to adapt after scoring in the defeat to West Ham as well.

Silva may well come good in the future but it’s evident that Wolves need more from their attackers. In signing the teenager last summer, they passed on the opportunity to land Rafael Leao.

Wolves were linked with a move for the 21-year-old just a year after he’d joined AC Milan from Lille in a deal worth £32m; that’s cheaper than Silva was worth.

However, just a year on, the Italian giants are now preparing to sell him for a fee of €40m (£34.5m). With that in mind, Jeff Shi should revive the club’s interest.

Leao is capable of playing on either wing, as well as through the middle as a centre-forward. He has played in all three positions for Milan this season and has helped himself to seven goals and five assists in all competitions.

It’s a handy tally for a young player with the world at his feet. Unlike Silva, the Milan striker has found a potency in front of goal and he’s also more creative.

On top of that, he’s been compared to some of the finest footballers to grace the game. Speaking about the forward last year, one of Leao’s former youth coaches – Tiago Fernandes – said: “I’d say that he reminds me of ‘Fenomeno’ Ronaldo for his pace, technique and the quality of his finishing.”

Lille president Gerard Lopez added: “He’s the Portuguese Mbappe.”

Leao is clearly a player who can bring plenty to the table. He knows how to beat his man and is capable of producing magic moments.

Former striker Rolando Bianchi once commented: “I had seen him at the U20 World Cup with Portugal and he made spectacular plays. He has great speed, he has a touch of the ball. Milan have made a great purchase and if they continue like this they have great prospects.”

Thus, if he signs for Wolves, Nuno Santo would have a marvellous player at his disposal. He appears to be a bigger threat than Silva and would undoubtedly be an upgrade on Willian Jose.

The Old Gold have an option to buy the Brazilian but it’s unlikely they’ll take that offer up considering he’s yet to score for the club.

In a recent interview, former Premier League centre-forward Kevin Phillips discussed West Ham United’s reported interest in a summer move for John Lundstram.

So far this season, Lundstram has not enjoyed the finest of campaigns for Sheffield United, with the 27-year-old posting averages of 0.5 interceptions, one tackle and 0.8 key passes per game over his 24 Premier League appearances, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 6.59 – ranking him as the Blades’ sixth-worst performer in the top flight.

However, despite such underwhelming form this season, ExWHUemployee has claimed that West Ham could be interested in the signing of the £25,000-per-week midfielder this summer. Speaking recently to Football Insider, Phillips stated his belief that Lundstram could prove a shrewd signing for the Hammers.

He said: “He could be one of those signings like Dawson, going under the radar a little bit. Dawson has turned out to be an excellent signing and Lundstram could be exactly the same. Going there as a bit of backup but if you do well you can find yourself playing. Moyes knows what he wants.

“He doesn’t sign players if he doesn’t know they’re going to do the job. I was surprised when Dawson went there but Moyes knew about him. Lundstram could be a real shrewd signing if they get that one over the line.”

Transfer Tavern Take

Despite his rather unremarkable form this term, a major reason for David Moyes’ interest in the 27-year-old is likely to be his performances last season, in which Lundstram’s five goals and three assists in the Premier League helped to fire Sheffield United to an impressive ninth-placed finish in the top flight.

Considering that the midfielder is out of contract this summer, should West Ham convince Lundstram to make a move to the London Stadium, he could indeed prove a shrewd piece of transfer business, as Phillips suggests.

Newcastle players have been granted a raft of days off despite their dismal defeat at Brighton, with players left stunned that Mike Ashley and Lee Charnley have not dismissed Steve Bruce.

A Daily Mail exclusive from Craig Hope claims that the Toon Army will report to Darsley Park on Tuesday for the first time since that 3-0 loss at the Amex.

That will kick-off a period of three days’ training, but there are then no sessions pencilled in between Friday and Monday.

The report says that players have become ‘increasingly concerned’ at the amount of time off they have been given in the midst of their battle to stay in the Premier League.

Hope also claims that parts of the squad are ‘shocked’ Ashley and Charnley haven’t pulled the trigger on Bruce after the loss to Brighton, with this latest raft of days off only adding to the sense of bemusement.

A club source defended the plan, citing the ‘mental and physical wellbeing’ of the squad. The hope is that it will ease the feeling of the pressure ahead of the run-in.

Six senior players are currently away on international duty – Martin Dubravka, Emil Krafth, Ciaran Clark, Jamal Lewis, Jeff Hendrick and Ryan Fraser.

If you were a Newcastle fan, you would probably want to see your players on as strict a regime as possible over this break.

After all, there were signs in that Brighton game that certain players’ focus had wavered, and that is unacceptable in these circumstances.

It feels like the last thing this squad needs is more time for their focus to shift away from what really matters, which is likely what these increased days off will do.

ومن المقرر أن يجري الفريق مساء اليوم جولة تفقدية بزيارة ملعب استاد جابوما الذي سيحتضن مباراة مصر وكوت ديفوار.

يذكر أن منتخب تأهل إلي دور ثمن النهائي من بطولة كأس أمم إفريقيا، بعدما احتل المركز الثاني في ترتيب المجموعة الرابعة برصيد 6 نقاط من فوزين على غينيا بيساو والسودان، بينما نال الهزيمة من نيجيريا.

-Falta, estamos distantes ainda. Não podemos nos iludir porque conseguimos os resultados, achar que estamos preparados para decidir uma competição que vai ser definida em fevereiro e março, Libertadores também. Temos que melhorar muito a qualidade física, a qualidade tática e a qualidade técnica. Temos que avançar bastante. Depois de começar a sua carreira no Palmeiras, Samuel Santos também defendeu o Figueirense, Santo André, Bragantino, Mirassol, ABC e Marítimo-POR.

O jogador admitiu que chegou a ser sondado por outras equipe da mesma divisão do Ju, mas a proposta apresentada pelo clube de Caxias do Sul suportada por todo um projeto acabou influenciando bastante em sua decisão.

– As expectativas são as melhores possíveis. Tive algumas propostas para jogar a Série B em outros clubes, mas aceitei a proposta do Juventude por causa do projeto deles que é bem interessante. É um clube com estrutura, que briga por coisas boas no estadual, torcida que vai ao estádio e apoia – garantiu Samuel.

Na sua avaliação, o Juventude reúne condições de fazer uma campanha no Gauchão digna de brigar por uma conquista que veio pela última vez em 1998 além de busca a presença dentre os quatro primeiros colocados da Série B para voltar a primeira divisão do futebol brasileiro:

– Temos de tudo para fazermos um grande ano. O elenco está sendo bem montado juntamente com a experiência do técnico Marquinhos Santos, que já conhece o clube e também porque já trabalhamos juntos. Isso também foi um dos motivos da minha escolha pelo Juventude. As metas são alcançar os objetivos. Brigar por título no estadual e conquistar o acesso à Série A.

No primeiro jogo-treino do ano, Samuel Santos iniciou como titular. No teste, o Juventude venceu por 1 a 0 o Tubarão, no sábado (11).
