In all, it was a dreadful attacking and defensive display from Spence, and given the importance of tonight’s game, one that should see him start on the bench.

The Spurs star who should replace Spence

While Bodø/Glimt have taken some impressive scalps en route to this game, it would be fair to say that they’ll be massive underdogs against Spurs, and as such the hosts will likely spend most of the game attacking.

According to Anfield Watch, Club Brugge defender Maxim De Cuyper is now high on Liverpool’s transfer radar ahead of the summer transfer window, having scouted the left-back over the course of the last 12 months.

Dubbed a dream target, the Reds and FSG seemingly view De Cuyper as an ideal alternative to Kerkez, having impressed in the Champions League this season, most notably catching the eye by covering the second-most distance for Brugge in the competition.

Man City have set their sights on some renowned attacking midfielders from across Europe, but there is also an indication they may take a gamble on an up-and-coming talent, with a report from Spain revealing they are preparing a super offer for River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono.

Guardiola believes Mastantuono would be a perfect fit for his system, which means City chiefs are now seriously considering making a big offer for the 17-year-old, who has caught the eye with his performances for River Plate this season.

A number of other major clubs have set their sights on the Argentine, including Manchester United, but he is protected by a €45m (£38m) release clause and isn’t expected to leave his current club until 2026 at the earliest.

A place in the Premier League next season would improve their chances of keeping hold of key men, and a big update has emerged regarding one such player.

"Great" Sunderland ace being eyed up by Newcastle

According to a report from The Athletic, Newcastle are eyeing highly-rated Sunderland midfielder Chris Rigg this summer.

It is also stated that “West Ham scouts have monitored the development” of the £25m-rated teenage star, with the Magpies and Manchester United also “among his admirers”.

Seeing Rigg leave Sunderland for Newcastle doesn’t even bear thinking about for anyone of a Black Cats persuasion, given the rivalry between the two clubs.

Not only that, but the 17-year-old is also arguably the club’s most prized asset, with Jobe Bellingham waxing lyrical over him last month after he and his teammate won a Young Player of the Year award:

“Every day he trains like he wants to get better, with a great ambition and a great desire. So that’s the best thing for me really. Realistically, Sunderland will be aware that they can’t keep hold of Rigg forever, with the midfielder likely to have lofty ambitions, potentially ending up at one of the biggest clubs in the country.

According to TEAMtalk, Man City have made an enquiry to sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan. The Sky Blues have made contact ‘to understand the conditions of a potential deal’, with reports prior claiming the AC Milan midfielder is valued at £50m and is City’s top target.

The 26-year-old has been starring for AC Milan this season, scoring 13 goals and registering four assists in more than 40 games.

Big picture: Contest of evenly matched teamsUp until the end of 2022, these teams had played four T20Is against each other. Ever. In the last three years, though, these teams have played five times, and been fairly evenly matched – UAE winning three times, Oman twice. They had met in the final of the ACC Men’s Premier Cup, which is the feeder tournament for the Asia Cup. On that occasion, a 56-ball 100* from UAE captain Muhammad Waseem had put UAE’s total well out of Oman’s reach. But earlier in the tournament, Oman had handed out a crushing defeat to UAE.They arrive at this encounter licking wounds. UAE arguably had the more traumatic opening encounter, having been shot out for 57 by India before the target was chased down in 4.3 overs. Oman’s brush with Pakistan saw them 67 all out chasing 161. There is the distant possibility that either – or both – of these teams can cause upsets in their last group match. But more than likely, this match is their best chance of getting some points up on the table, on the biggest stage either team will play on this year.In fact, for both teams, it is an opportunity to break losing streaks. UAE have been much more active in T20I cricket this year, but have now lost six matches on the jump – that sequence having been kickstarted by Uganda, who beat them in late July. Oman also have a six-match losing streak going all the way back to December last year. In that time, they have lost to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and USA (three times).
