Liverpool must sign Bukayo Saka

Liverpool have already signed three players this summer to strengthen their squad ahead of next season, however, there has also been a number of outgoings both confirmed and imminent.

Sadio Mane has already been confirmed with a move to Bayern Munich, whilst Divock Origi leaves on a free transfer this summer and Taki Minamino is set to be announced as a Monaco player imminently, leaving Liverpool without a number of proven goal-scorers in the team.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-liverpool-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-salah-gnabry-isak-romano” title= “Read the latest Liverpool news!”]

Darwin Nunez and Fabio Carvalho have both been brought in to add fresh attacking perspectives to the team, however, Nunez has no Premier League experience and Carvalho has very little with just four appearances in the top flight for Fulham.

Not only do the club have the three aforementioned forwards leaving Anfield this summer, but there are also now fresh reports that Mohamed Salah could be set to follow them with Liverpool considering their options on the Egyptian winger who has just 12 months left on his contract and no further progression on signing an extension.

Roberto Firmino also has just 12 months left on his contract too, with no word of an opportunity for the Brazilian to extend his stay on Merseyside as of yet.

As a result, FSG must look to the future and not put themselves or Jurgen Klopp in the position to get caught short next season and beyond, so now must identify proven attacking threats that they can sign to either replace their infamous front three or add depth to the forward line.

One player who has been closely linked with the club for a while now is Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka, who is currently stuck into his own contract negotiations with the Gunners with his future in question as the club are reportedly committing to signing Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer.

Liverpool must now seize the opportunity to capitalise on the forward’s uncertain future in North London, by making an offer he can’t refuse this summer as Klopp could have his second coming of Salah on his hands should the club secure a deal.

The £100m star has had a brilliant season in the Premier League scoring 11 goals, contributing seven assists and creating eight big chances, making 1.8 key passes and 1.1 tackles on average per game, proving that he is an absolute nuisance for his opponents.

Saka’s high-quality performances have attracted high praise with Ray Parlour telling talkSPORT that the youngster is “fantastic” and a “revelation” after Arsenal’s clash with Newcastle last season (via Metro);

“Saka has been a revelation, he and [Emile] Smith Rowe have been the main guys up front creating chances,”

“The way he took his goal today, it was fantastic. His movement, his runs off the ball, he’s got so much intelligence. He really can play anywhere.”

With that being said, the signing of Saka would be a major coup for Liverpool as not only can he give the team that extra boost in goal contributions but also become a key player of the future as the club begin to rebuild their team and develop new stars to become the faces of the Merseyside giants.

Aston Villa open to John McGinn offers

Aston Villa are now open to offers for midfielder John McGinn following links to Tottenham, according to Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Conte target

Reliable reports from The Telegraph’s Mike McGrath revealed last month that McGinn was one of six players wanted by Antonio Conte in north London this summer.

Spurs have been extremely busy early on in the summer window, already securing deals for Fraser Forster, Ivan Perisic and Yves Bissouma, so it looks as though they are about half way through their business.

The 27-year-old Villa star meanwhile missed just two Premier League games under Seven Gerrard last season, who hailed the midfielder as ‘unique’.

Gerrard was adamant that the Scot was an irreplaceable part of his plans at Villa Park, but it looks as if he has made a surprise U-turn when it comes to McGinn’s future.

The Latest: Source shares update

FI provided an update regarding McGinn on Monday morning after being informed by a ‘Villa source’.

They claimed that Villa are now willing to listen to ‘top-tier’ offers for the midfielder, with Gerrard ‘not totally convinced’.

The source added that McGinn is always ‘whinging’ behind the scenes at Bodymoor Heath and isn’t the easiest to manage.

The Verdict: Interesting

This is an extremely big claim made by FI regarding McGinn, given his status as a near untouchable in the XI last season, so his future is one to keep an eye on over the coming weeks.

Villa have already bolstered their midfield ranks by signing Boubacar Kamara on a free transfer, but should McGinn leave, they would surely need another star addition.

Manchester United have also been linked with the Villa star this year, so it will be interesting to see if Villa receive any offers from north London or Manchester prior to the new season.

Fabrizio Romano drops LFC transfer news

Liverpool have reportedly held a long-term interest in signing Jude Bellingham and now a reliable source has given an update on the club’s interest in the player.

What’s the latest?

Italian journalist and transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has given an update on Liverpool’s pursuit of Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Romano claimed in a recent interview with a German media outlet (via Rousing The Kop):

“I think Jude Bellingham will stay at Borussia Dortmund this summer. I really have no doubts about that. Dortmund are convinced the player will stay and he is ready to stay. I see no problems between the two parties.

“But I’m sure Liverpool will get in the running for Jude Bellingham next summer. Let’s wait and see what Borussia Dortmund plans for next summer. But Liverpool will be in the running for him.”

Supporters will be excited

There is no doubt that Liverpool supporters will be excited at the prospect of finally signing Jude Bellingham next summer, especially since he has been linked with a move to Anfield for almost a year.

Adding a younger, fresh perspective to the midfield three was something that was reported as a priority for Jurgen Klopp this summer but, after the signing of Aurelien Tchouameni fell through, it is clear that the German manager is happy to wait until next year to snatch Bellingham from his former club.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-liverpool-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-salah-gnabry-isak-romano” title= “Read the latest Liverpool news!”]

The 18-year-old wonderkid has been impressing the world of football ever since he was playing in the Championship with Birmingham City but his star has continued to shine even brighter after his move to the Bundesliga back in 2020.

Bellingham has scored 10 goals and delivered 18 assists in 89 appearances from his central midfield role at Dortmund, but it’s not just his goal contributions that have captured the attention of the Merseyside giants.

This season in the Bundesliga he has created 10 big chances, made 1.3 key passes, 1.6 tackles and 1.3 interceptions on average per game, winning the majority of his duels combined (51%) and successful in completing the majority of his dribble attempts (57%), proving that he is an absolute nuisance for his opponents.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is a massive fan of his England team-mate and fellow midfielder, claiming “the sky is the limit” for the youngster in an interview with Sport Bible (via Liverpool Echo):

“He’s a great lad, a fantastic player and I’m sure he’ll go from strength to strength as he gets older and matures. When I watch him, he plays with such maturity even now. The sky is the limit for him really.”

With that being said, the signing of Bellingham would not only clearly be welcomed by the Reds captain but would be a great piece of business for Liverpool as they plan for the future of the team at Anfield.

Tottenham: Sky reporter shares ‘negotiations’ for Conte target

Tottenham Hotspur have also held ‘negotiations’ to sign a ‘perfect player’ for manager Antonio Conte, according to Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas.

The Lowdown: Spurs busy…

The Lilywhites have certainly been one of the busier Premier League teams of this transfer window so far, having already confirmed both Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster on Bosman deals.

They’re also rumoured to be closing in on a third as reports surround Brighton and Hove Albion star Yves Bissouma, perhaps setting up this summer window as Tottenham’s busiest and most exciting in years.

Sharing an update, Thomas of Sky now says there have been ‘negotiations’ to sign another player Conte.

The Latest: Thomas makes Spurs claim…

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/tottenham-latest-developments-2/” title=”Tottenham latest developments!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

According to the journalist, the club and by extension sporting director Fabio Paratici, have held talks over signing Middlesbrough starlet Djed Spence.

However, Thomas also states that no deal has been agreed ‘yet’.

When asked for the latest update on Spence, he explained:

“There have been negotiations. Deal not agreed yet.”

The Verdict: Start moving…

Securing the 21-year-old would balance out Tottenham’s troubling homegrown quota issue and provide Conte with an exciting wing-back option.

Described as the ‘perfect player for Conte’ by talkSPORT reporter Alex Crook, other members of the media have said he ‘massively fits the bill’ for Spurs’ head coach after an ‘incredible’ season on loan at Nottingham Forest over 2021/2022 (Alan Hutton).

Spence’s mooted £20 million asking price could be a reasonable valuation given the amount of benefits he would provide Spurs and this is a move which should certainly be prioritised.

Wolves must seal David Carmo transfer

Wolves ended their latest Premier League season with one of the best defensive records in the top flight.

The Old Gold conceded 43 goals in their 38 league matches, leaving only the clubs that finished in the top four with a better concession rate.

One man who played a big part in this impressive factor of their season is Romain Saiss.

Across 31 league appearances, the Moroccan made more clearances (173) than any other Wolves player, along with a higher combined total of tackles and interceptions (141) than anyone else in Bruno Lage’s squad.

In fact, of the seven league games that the 32-year-old missed, the Old Gold failed to keep a clean sheet in any of them.

Now that it has been revealed that the defender won’t be at the club next season following six years of service, the summer transfer window will give Lage the chance to bring in a suitable replacement for Saiss.

One man who has been linked with a move to Molineux recently who could fit that particular bill is Braga centre-back David Carmo.

With 87 appearances across Braga’s youth and senior teams, the 22-year-old would definitely be a good long-term option for Wolves in terms of his age and relative experience.

After recovering from an ankle injury, the centre-back – who reportedly has a release clause of €40m (£34m) – played in Braga’s final 12 league games of the season. Over those dozen matches, they kept seven clean sheets, after only recording nine in their 22 games prior to Carmo’s return.

To further highlight his defensive prowess, the £13.5m-rated defender ended the campaign with the second-highest average for clearances per game (three) in Braga’s squad.

Labelled as “one of the best” centre-backs in Portugal according to his manager Carlos Carvalhal, the defender could well be Lage’s dream replacement for Saiss.

Taking all this into account, it seems clear that Carmo is a capable defender who could well become a top player in the Premier League if given the chance to impress in England’s top flight.

With the Old Gold presumably looking to add another defender to their ranks following Saiss’ departure, we feel that the Braga colossus should be near the top of their list for potential candidates.

Leeds: McGrath drops Kristensen update

Leeds United are now closing in on a deal to bring Rasmus Kristensen to Elland Road this summer.

What’s the talk?

That’s according to Mike McGrath, with The Telegraph journalist revealing in a recent post on Twitter that Victor Orta has now agreed a deal with Red Bull Salzburg for the transfer of the right-back.

In his accompanying report, the journalist revealed that the transfer could be worth up to £10m, while Leeds are said to have beaten both Brentford and Borussia Dortmund to the 24-year-old’s signature.

In his tweet, McGrath said: “Deal in place for LUFC to sign Rasmus Kristensen. They are expected to win race for Denmark full-back from Red Bull Salzburg.”

Big coup for Orta

When considering just how exciting a prospect Kristensen has proven himself to be during his three-year stay in Austria, in addition to the fact that both Dortmund and Brentford were reported to be keen on the 24-year-old, the news that Leeds now look to have agreed a deal for the full-back undoubtedly represents a big coup for Orta.

Indeed, despite his defensive position, the £13.5m-rated talent is quite clearly an extremely threatening right-back, having scored 13 goals and registered 19 assists over his 107 appearances for Salzburg, in addition to the Denmark international having also created 15 big chances in the Austrian Bundesliga over the last three years.

[snack-amp-story url= “https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-leeds-united-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-and-much-more-2″ title=”Read the latest Leeds news, transfer rumours and more!”]

The vast majority of these came over his 29 outings in the most recent league campaign, during which the £14k-per-week defender scored seven goals, registered four assists and created seven big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.4 shots, making 1.2 key passes and completing 1.3 dribbles per game.

However, the Dane also impressed at the back, helping Salzburg keep 13 clean sheets, in addition to making an average of 1.3 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, 1.4 clearances and winning 5.7 duels – at a success rate of 60% – per appearance.

These metrics saw the 24-year-old average a rather breathtaking SofaScore match rating of 7.31, not only ranking him as Matthias Jaissle’s second-best performer in the league but also as the fourth-best player in the division as a whole.

As such, it is clear to see just how big of a coup Kristensen would be for Leeds, with McGrath’s latest update on the Whites’ pursuit of the defender sure to be something that will have left the Elland Road faithful buzzing.

Newcastle transfer news on Nunez

Newcastle United are reportedly now ‘keen’ on signing Darwin Nunez in the summer.

The Lowdown: Standout season

Nunez has had a standout season at Benfica, scoring no fewer than 34 goals and making a further four assists in just 41 games in total over all competitions (Transfermarkt).

[web_stories_embed url=”https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/web-stories/newcastle-news-6/” title=”Newcastle news!” poster=”” width=”360″ height=”600″ align=”none”]

He was described as an ‘absolute beast‘ by Liverpool podcaster Hari Sethi after an impressive performance in the UEFA Champions League against the finalists, showing that he is more than capable of making the step up to the Premier League.

The Latest: Newcastle ‘keen’

Taking to Twitter, journalist Jacque Talbot, who regularly breaks transfer news and updates, has revealed that the St. James’ Park outfit are just one of a number of clubs in the top flight who are ‘keen’ on signing Nunez.

“Darwin Nunez will be going to the Premier League, with Eugenio Lopez as his agent, the rep who brokered the deal of Di Maria and Man United. Newcastle keen. Liverpool and Spurs among it.”

The Verdict: Get it done

If the Magpies can put the right offer on the table, then there may not come a better opportunity than to sign a player who promises to be one of the best strikers in Europe over the next few years – Jorge Jesus says he will become ‘world class’.

Indeed, Nunez is only 22 years of age, and so has the potential to reach the very top.

The Magpies looks set to face some stiff competition from teams that can offer him Champions League football, and so the Toon must act as soon as possible if they are going to get this deal done.

Rangers must sign Lewis Ferguson

Rangers ended their 2021/22 campaign on a high as the Glasgow giants won the Scottish Cup with a 2-0 win at Hampden.

Gio van Bronckhorst’s men were left disappointed in both the Premiership and the Europa League as they finished runners-up in both competitions and were able to head into the summer with a trophy by lifting the SFA Cup.

It was a tense match against Hearts as incoming Gers centre-back John Souttar kept the Light Blues at bay throughout regular time.

The game then went to extra time and burst into life as Ryan Jack scored a sensational goal from the edge of the box, before Scott Wright made it 2-0.

Jack, who turns 31 next season, was restricted to nine games in the Premiership as he struggled with injuries throughout the campaign and Rangers may start to think about life after the Scotland international.

Dream Jack heir

Van Bronckhorst can find the dream heir to the 30-year-old in a deal to sign Aberdeen central midfielder Lewis Ferguson this summer.

Former Gers striker Kenny Miller recently claimed that the gem is someone the club should be looking to sign. He said: “In terms of players Rangers could go for in Scotland after (John) Souttar – (Ellis) Simms and (Lewis) Ferguson would potentially be the two for me because they’re at a really good age.”

The Dons man, who was dubbed a “real leader” by former Premiership player Mark Wilson, was valued at £10m by his manager Jim Goodwin earlier this year, whilst calling him a “big influence”, and his statistics in the top-flight make it easy to see why.

These impressive stats in the Premiership illustrate the quality he would be able to bring to Rangers if they sign him this summer.

The Gers signed Jack from Aberdeen in 2017 and they can now secure his heir in a deal to sign another central midfielder from the Dons.

In the 2020/21 campaign, the Light Blues gem averaged an excellent SofaScore rating of 7.14 as he won 56% of his duels in the division. This shows that both players are capable of delivering consistently impressive displays in the middle of the park and can hold their own in physical contests.

However, Ferguson can replace Jack and add something different to the position – a goalscoring threat. His 11 strikes in the top-flight dwarf the Rangers man’s goal tally in the last five league seasons combined.

This means that he can be an upgrade on the Scotland international and be the long-term replacement for him, with plenty of years left for the Aberdeen man to give at the age of 22.

Liverpool can unearth Robertson 2.0 in Ramsay

Liverpool have been heavily linked with Calvin Ramsay ahead of the summer transfer window, and now a new update has emerged that may encourage the club to step up their pursuit.

What’s the latest?

According to Scottish news outlet The Scotsman, Serie A club Bologna are set to reignite their interest in Ramsay following a £4.8m bid falling through in January.

[snack-amp-story url=”https://www.footballfancast.com/web-stories/read-the-latest-liverpool-news-transfer-rumours-gossip-salah-gnabry-isak-romano” title= “Read the latest Liverpool news!”]

As per the report, the publication understands that the Italian club are set to return to negotiations for a second time this summer to secure Ramsay’s signature over Liverpool and Leeds United who are both named as potential suitors for the defender.

Andy Robertson 2.0

Andy Robertson was a major coup for Jurgen Klopp back when he signed him from newly relegated Hull City back in 2017 for £10m, and since then, he has gone on to be a Champions League, FA Cup, Carabao Cup and Premier League title winner over the last five seasons and Ramsay could be the second coming of the full-back.

Labelled an “unbelievable” player by sports journalist Ryan Taylor, the 18-year-old recently won the SPFL Young Player of the Year award after an impressive season for Aberdeen which has obviously caught the attention of the powers at Anfield.

The £6m ace who was tipped for a “massive future” by Brian Rice, has scored one goal and contributed three assists, creating three big chances, making 1.8 key passes and 1.3 clearances on average per game, whilst winning the majority of his duels (51%) combined in 24 league appearances this season, proving he is showing huge potential.

In total this term, he has racked up a supremely impressive nine assists so it’s easy to see why Klopp wants to add the full-back to his options.

There are many comparisons capable of being drawn between Robertson and Ramsey, with the Liverpool left-back winning the same SPFL Young Player of the Year award back in 2014 when he was at Dundee United and have both been discovered as upcoming talents during their time playing Scottish football.

In terms of similarities on the pitch, despite playing on opposite sides of the backline the pair offer similarities in their ability to not only offer consistent defensive performances but also pose a deadly attacking threat that can cause all sorts of problems for their opponents.

The youngster has even claimed that he looks up to the Liverpool star in an interview back in April (via The Scotsman):

“Andy Robertson at Liverpool and Tierney at Arsenal, they’ve all been brilliant and they’re players I look up to, especially as they are full-backs like me.”

With that being said, Liverpool should do everything they can to get the signing over the line as the player can not only learn a lot from the influence of Robertson but can also be a great back up for Trent Alexander-Arnold in the future when the side are competing for multiple trophies.

Rangers: John Souttar to be fit for cup final

Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst has been dealt a big blow as early SFA Cup injury news has emerged on the Glasgow giants’ opponents…

What’s the talk?

Robbie Neilson has revealed that soon-to-be Gers defender John Souttar and Craig Halkett will both be available for selection on Saturday.

Van Bronckhorst’s men come up against Hearts in the final of the Scottish Cup this weekend and both players are poised to be involved.

When asked if they will be in contention to play, he told STV: “Yeah, 100 per cent. We’ve got a bounce game here on Tuesday.

“They’ll get some game time in that and then we’ll make a decision after that.”

Supporters will be frustrated

The Ibrox faithful will be frustrated by this news as Halkett and Souttar being fit comes as a blow to van Bronckhorst’s side, as both of them being out would have increased the Gers’ chances of winning the trophy.

Rangers know all about Souttar as he is a player who has agreed to move to the club at the end of the campaign on a free transfer. Ironically, his last match for Hearts will be against the team he is moving to, which will make for an interesting subplot on the day if he turns in a less-than-impressive display.

The Scotland international seems unlikely to do that, though, as he has been in terrific form throughout the season for the Jambos. In the Premiership, he has averaged an excellent SofaScore rating of 7.30 across 27 appearances, winning a whopping 71% of his duels.

Halkett is also a defender who will be familiar to Gers supporters as he came up through the youth ranks at Ibrox. He has made a name for himself at Hearts and performed well alongside Souttar – averaging a SofaScore rating of 7.14 across 28 matches in the division.

These statistics prove that both players have been in fine form for the club in the league this season. They have both consistently put in quality displays at the back and have proven that they are able to compete at the top end of the table in the Scottish top-flight, with Souttar doing enough to earn a switch to the Glasgow giants, and that is why their involvement is a big blow for the Gers.

Rangers supporters will be frustrated that both of them appear set to play in the game and will be hoping that the players with connections to the club do not end up costing them a trophy on Saturday.
